Government Support Expected for Expanding Armenian Business Presence in US Market

The Armenian-American Business Bridge expo-festival (trade show) in Glendale, California produced satisfactory results, according to Mariam Manukyan, the President of the Council of the International Business Relations Support Mariam Manukyan.

50 companies from various sectors got acquainted with the opportunities of the American market and established business ties. “Representatives of Armenian companies who traveled to the United States had the chance to get acquainted with the market, the opportunities of price offers, established business ties, received offers, especially from our partner, the American Liva Elite Business Group. That is, to export products to the US,” Manukyan said.

Manukyan said the expo attracted many visitors and the Armenian products were quickly sold out, especially food and wine products. Other displayed products included textile, canned products, food reprocessing, precious metals, services, IT sectors.

The Armenian companies are now discussing and studying the offers. Some of them plan to re-visit the United States for individual meetings.

The Council of the International Business Relations Support is holding the expo for the second time in the US, with growing number of applicants.

Council of the International Business Relations Support member Gevorg Aghabalyan said the main problem for long-term representation in the American market concerns the licensing paperwork, with rather difficult technical requirements.

“We are now considering to create a platform alongside this project to support the manufacturers in passing the licensing process. Government support would be useful. That is, to create an initiating group that will help to create a platform in the US in order for Armenian companies to be able to represent their products and have the possibilities of negotiations with suppliers on spot for long-term purposes,” he said.
